Maybe it’s cabin fever, but like a recent It Rolls post, my attention has turned to RVs lately as it does every year around this time.  And even though these things just gobble up the gas, there’s something fun about having a (usually) small house that you can take with you, at least for a few days.

The dead of Winter is no time to buy a new motorcycle.  That is, unless you want a whopping discount.  Like three thousand dollars off, or one-fourth of the sticker price.  So I guess if it’s time to replace the 600, I should get a new one for nearly the same price as the settlement was on the old one.

Maybe this series should have been called “A Tale Of Three Bikes,” instead of Two.  And this new CBR600RR is, of course, the “sportier” of the two since the insurance settlement from the “brothers” will only cover one new bike.

A Tale Of Two Bikes, Part 3 of 4

Thursday morning, December 21st, 2017.  Just 4 days before Christmas.  I was walking the dachshunds as usual and saw what looked like a dead animal in the yard, near the road… possibly a large dog or even a small cow.  It was black, with red and white at one end… l was expecting to see some really nasty blood and gore.

As I got closer, I was relieved that it was just a cloth, about the size of a jacket.  Next to it was a battery charger and pry bar.  I looked close at the thing and it said “Honda” in red and white.  Wow, I thought… somebody lost a nice jacket.

A closer look revealed that it was an official Honda motorcycle cover; one just like one of the two that I have.  And in a nanosecond, I realized that it was mine.

A Tale Of Two Bikes, Part 2 of 4

We just have a few weeks of nice riding weather left this year, so l thought l’d reflect on what l think is a motorcycle masterpiece.

To quote Honda, “And for 2013 the best just got a whole lot better.  We’ve given the CBR600RR some major updates, including new 12-spoke wheels, revised ECU settings, and a fine-tuned ram-air system to increase torque.  Best of all, the CBR600RR gets a new “Big Piston” fork and retuned rear shock.

A Tale Of Two Bikes, Part 1 of 4

This post was first written almost 5 years ago on Car Lust.  It has been updated for today’s submission.

Dreams can come true.  Some time around last November, I read that Honda was about to build the bike of my dreams.  And since I’m quickly reaching the age where the “Sunny Acres Trailer Park” in Retirementville, Florida, is looking more appealing every day, I figured this may be my last motorcycle.  So I wanted to go all out and do it right.

On January 16th, 2013, for my birthday (Which I surprisingly share with Top Gear‘s James May.  Different years, of course.), I put a deposit down on a red, white, and blue CBR500R, like the one pictured here.  Doing so gave me the bragging rights that I had the first CBR500R ever sold.
